I teach from my truth and from what is in my heart.
I have been practicing yoga for at least 20 years! Initially from a workout perspective and by including it in my fitness regime. I, like so many, had previously suffered with back pain. With a regular yoga practice the back pain subsided. However it wasn’t really about the physical benefits of Yoga. The more I went to yoga, the better I began to 'feel'. My personal yoga practise developed into a passion and way of life. By practising asana (physical postures), pranayama (breath control) and pratyahara (sense withdrawal) I have learnt that yoga is so much more than just a physical practice - it is an internal practice. By using the physical aspect of yoga asanas we are able to connect. To connect with the self. Being so drawn to Yoga, it became my calling. It took me a long time to rise up and share the benefits, it was a big decision, not taken lightly, and I waited to feel ready to be able to share and serve.
In 2014 I left my job as an early years teacher and qualified as a certified yoga instructor with Yoga London. On completion I left London and returned to my childhood home on the beautiful island of Jersey, Channel Islands and I now teach yoga full time all over the island.
My wish as a teacher is to share the incredible benefits that yoga has had on my own life. It is a way to explore the body and destress the mind. Yoga is a spiritual practice that that can aid our physical and mental health, which I believe are very much connected. A practice of self-inquiry and ultimately of self-love. Yoga gives me a feeling of clarity in the mind and a strong sense of wellbeing. If I can pass on even just a small amount of that, then I consider myself extremely lucky.
As well as teaching my regular group and private classes, I offer various monthly workshops, events and Yin Yoga sessions.
I am at my happiest when I'm teaching. I aim to rise up and teach from my truth, from what is in my heart and with honesty. I hold close advise given from a past teacher "teach every class as if you are teaching your beloved" and "teach your heart out." I feel honoured to be able to teach and I will strive to remain authentic whilst I am lucky enough to do so.
