I teach from my truth and from what is in my heart.
I have been practicing yoga for at least 20 years! Initially from a workout perspective and by including it in my fitness regime. However, very quickly it really wasn’t about the physical benefits of Yoga that kept me going back. The more I went to yoga, the better I began to 'feel'. My personal yoga practise developed into a passion and way of life. By practising asana (physical postures), pranayama (breath control) and pratyahara (sense withdrawal) I have learnt that yoga is so much more than just a physical practice - it is an internal practice. By using the physical aspect of yoga asanas we are able to connect. My yoga mat is my ‘rectangular lab’ where I get to work on and examine myself. A place for self inquiry. Being so drawn to Yoga, it became my calling. It took me a long time to rise up and share the benefits, it was a big decision, not taken lightly, and I waited to feel ready to be able to share and serve.
In 2014 I left my job as an early years teacher and qualified as a certified yoga instructor with Yoga London. On completion I left London and returned to my childhood home on the beautiful island of Jersey, Channel Islands and I now teach yoga full time all over the island.
My wish as a teacher is to share the incredible benefits that yoga can bring to our lives. Yoga is a practise of love and devotion. It is a way to explore the body and destress the mind. Yoga is a spiritual practice that that can aid our physical and mental health, which I believe are very much connected. A practice of self-inquiry and ultimately of self-love. Yoga gives me a feeling of clarity in the mind and a strong sense of wellbeing. If I can pass on even just a small amount of that, then I consider myself extremely lucky.
As well as teaching my regular group and private classes, I offer various monthly workshops, events and Yin Yoga sessions. During the spring and summer months you will find me teaching on the beautiful beaches in Jersey. I now run yoga retreats in amazing locations and I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to facilitate space for us to really dive deep in, to unwind, unplug and fully immerse in yoga.
It is true that I am at my happiest when I'm teaching. I aim to rise up and teach from my truth, from what is in my heart and with honesty. I hold close advise given from a past teacher "teach every class as if you are teaching your beloved" and "teach your heart out." I feel honoured to be able to teach and I will strive to remain authentic whilst I am lucky enough to do so.
